The work takes its point of departure in the surfaces surrounding Bestseller’s headquarters in Brande—the company’s original base, which over 50 years has grown into a small town. Through frottage, characteristic textures are mapped: the strict grid of paving stones and the asphalt’s random, repaired cracks. Each line carries traces of the process, and the work emerges organically from hundreds of small encounters between hand, canvas, and surface—forming an image of both order and deviation, structure and rupture.
Nearness asks where presence actually arises: in the uniform or the irregular, in the structure or the crack? Perhaps it exists precisely in the tension between order and chaos—in a textile acting as a membrane, a skin, absorbing the rhythms of a place without fixing them into a single narrative.
